Title: Epic Banners II

Lulz0matic - March 18, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
A pool of the collective braintrust, and suggestions for more 'Epic' Banners.

People with ideas but no time/money to produce banners to share.
People who can't think of anything to utilise as a banner to steal from.

Photoshop requests for epic graphics, so on, so forth.

Time to start; Ready GO!

Lolita Protestor - March 18, 2008 09:24 PM (GMT)
Well, i've already posted my own suggestion in another thread, should i post here?

Lulz0matic - March 18, 2008 09:25 PM (GMT)
Who am I to say?

Though, from this point onwards, I think it'd make things easier if all further ideas went here.

Lolita Protestor - March 18, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
Okay, well, mine will be like a white piece of card;

'Mum i'm coming home'

What were your child's first words?

Disconnection: Scientology Splits families

Falco - March 18, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
If possible, double sided:

Do you care about your friends and family? Scientology doesn't

and

Scientology: splitting families since 19(oops - I forget - when was it founded again?)

PennonII - March 18, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
here are all the original signs posted in the "Epic Signs" thread, for March 15th:

Most Religions are built on LOVE.

Scientology is built on Broken Homes.

Will be shooping the top to say 'Scientologists' / Making bigger, vector-tastic one if possible.

Was thinking of a large Flag like banner of just the anonymous suit. with Anonymous written across the bottom. Just to Identify us as a group.

Suit and Bowler Hat - Union Jack, could well be epic fail.

People are more likely to associate this with the orange order marches in Northern Ireland rather than anonymous.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Memoriallodge.jpg

or some would associate it with far right facist groups like the BNP.

III - March 19, 2008 03:56 PM (GMT)
hmm... i'm not sure about that flag.

however if you were doing it, i'd suggest buying an actual flag, and sticking the circle on it somehow.

anonsrus - March 19, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
Found it on enturb, was just a repost. I think if anything it could at least use tweaking to the right aspect ratio.

The Aforementioned is Epic Fail in this anon's opinion.

I agree with one of the anon above me, who says is is BNP-esque. When I see that, I think BNP. I don't see why the Union Jack needs to be brought into this, It's too risky. We've already been labelled Far-right neo-nazi's haven't we??? No need to give them more ammunition in their smear campaign.

You don't see any Stars & Stripes Anon-flags.
*Edit*
I don't see any Stars & Stripes Anon-flags.

Then lead by example perhaps?

I'm not a huge flan of flag waving, but it's better than some stuff. And to be honest, anyone who automatically associates the UK flag with the BNP is too small minded to have their views changed by the protest. It's that kind of association that plays into the hands of the BNP. We'd get much more support than... unsupport anyhow. Remember the outcry when the flags were removed from the market for fear of upsettinng people?

Still, I think it's sort of cool but not really relevant.

Unless you had like a big UN banner to go alongside it to sort of show the worldwide nature of the protest.... that might work. Still, it's probably a good idea not to be too confusing. We're not a political party or anything.

........Hmm! That makes me think actually.

...nah, save the world domination for later.

Of course, maybe we could all unite under the banner of the almighty Pigeon Quilt!

I do find it quite sad that ours is the only country where our flag is found offensive.

Hermes - March 19, 2008 11:44 PM (GMT)
So why don't we take it back from those BNP & NF twats

Anyways I think I remember seeing an idea on either eturb or here about having a brit flag and having summat like "Bummies against Scientology" on it, so how about that?

anonuk323 - March 20, 2008 10:16 AM (GMT)
I think we should drop the Union Flag, mostly because of its association with the BNP (I agree with anonsrus but thats life) and also because it is a worldwide protest - its not just us brummies against it :)

The anon flag would be OK, but we should really consider the *amount* of banners/flags; I know from experience that they get very heavy after a while, and in a strong wind its murder.

I have a proposal for a banner though;

"Disconnect from Scientology, not your family"
(Edit: I apologise if I've borrowed this from another forum accidentally)

That is a nice slogan.

i still have my sign stolen from last time...

but i have spray painted it black and it now reads:

Scientology: you do the hard work, so they dont have to

and

Disillusioned
Disaffected
Disconnected

:D

Falco - April 10, 2008 12:48 PM (GMT)
Made my sign now.

I have a significant amount of plastic covering left over, does anyone want me to bring it so they can waterproof their sign on site?
(Will require you bringing something to cut it with and some tape)

Myself's sign is painted in acrylics - so wont run - but paper in flimsy - perhaps plastic is a good idea. Bring it on the off-chance.

anon1812 - April 10, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
Speaking of cutting stuff, I have Dave's stickers (>9000 seriously...) now they're in the form of whacking great massive rolls... and I aint got time to cut 'em up now.

Were I to bring scissors... what happens?

[I'm thinking along the lines of concealed weapon here]

Ah, you have those stickers.

Can I take about 500 of them off you at the protest? I was supposed to get them off dave at the last one, but completely forgot about it.

500?

well... I've got 2 rolls of 5000... so I could give you a roll :D Or just the leftover's from the day's distribution? Up to you!

Falco - April 10, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
5000's a bit too many for me I thinks, so we'll just work something out on the day more than likely.

greenleaves - April 10, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
EPIC signs are EPIC - but will require minor assemblage on arrival. So - will be bringing sellotape - other anons welcome to use.

Also, Myself and Bestfriend are absolutely willing to take stickers.

Nixon - April 11, 2008 01:15 PM (GMT)
im bringing a stapler to fix mine together

or would that not be adviseable...

"concealed weapon" and all...

anonuk323 - April 11, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
I'm a little concerned that we run the risk of opening a stationary shop in the middle of new street. :P

Seriously, IIRC a concealed weapon only counts as such if you are carrying it to use it as a weapon; else you could do someone for going into WHSmith, buying a pair of scissors, putting them in a bag and walking out.

Use your common sense here; if you can, don't bring anything sharp, but if you need to cut cake, bring plastic cutlery; similarly running repairs to signs may warrant a small pair of scissors.

As ever, if the police tell you its not OK, don't do it.

TL;DR summary;
Plastic cutlery for cake, OK
A small pair of scissors; OK
Masking/sello/gaffer tape: OK (masking is best as it doesn't need scissors)
Everything else: NO
