Title: Email/Domain Information/Status

anonsrus - March 21, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Okay, this is pretty much the lowdown on the domain, email, whatever else. Ask any questions you might have in this topic.

DOMAIN STATUS: FULLY WORKING

Domain
  • The domain, brumanon.co.uk has replaced the z9.invisionfree.com stuff.
  • The InvisionFree address does still work, but won't be the primary domain.
  • The domain is registered for the next two years, so it should be pretty good.
  • If we make any changes, we do have to wait for DNS propagation which takes up to 48 hours.
  • Here's where you come in - having the domain means that we could have forums.brumanon.co.uk and have an actual front to the site that press, etc. could access. If you think that's a good idea pop a post in here about it.
Emails
  • There are two options for email, one that costs £10 (no profit being made), and one that is free.
  • The £10 option keeps you completely anonymous. You get a full mailbox, with POP3 and all that jazz, on brumanon.co.uk. Payment goes via PayPal to anonsrus@brumanon.co.uk.
  • The free option is simply an @brumanon.co.uk address that forwards on to your usual email address. You might not, depending on your email service, be able to reply back as this address, but I know that you can on Gmail. Obviously, using this means that you have to either tell me your email, or make a disposable one (Bluebottle has been recommended) for it to forward to, so it's not the best option for anonymity.
  • If you want to use either option, drop me a PM or email to anonsrus@brumanon.co.uk with the email address you would like (and the one to forward to if it's applicable).
Others
  • Any questions that get asked here, I'll answer and put under this section.

^ Good plan.

Just a suggestion about the disposable e-mails, if you choose to make one. I've tried a few different ones out, and using Bluebottle seems to work fairly well for me.
It asks you for some information upon registering an account, but as soon as it is created, you can erase it all from your profile. I'm not even sure the info you enter has to be authentic in the first place.

I'll update the ED page to point to the new url, just so it looks a little tidier.

Would it be worth it giving ourselves our own page?
Or is that just my (a)ego/(b)desire to make/edit a page talking out?

I and whoever else who can be bothered could easily put an 'Brumanon' page down in the Playah's section...

Someone let me know. =)

Concerning the press frontpage, would we be looking at wiki-style stuff, or just a static page that gets updated from time-to-time?

Lulz0matic - March 21, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
Good god, Static.

Don't want the Scifags fucking shit up, not if we have teh media looking at it.

If you need anyone to help with the frontpage and keeping it up to date, I'm available. =)

Drop me a PM if you need a hand.

Quick update, g00ns made stupid fail, and therefore the domain redirects to a fail page for now.

EDIT: Keeping an eye on IF IRC for more info.

*is confused*

Clarification would be nice.

Anon76 - March 23, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
Someone "g00ns" hacked invisionfree boards putting up a page saying it had been hacked, meaning that the invisionfree website and the brumanon.co.uk url was also affected.

All seems to be working fine now although the main invisionfree webpage is still offline for now.

Don't worry it affected all invisionfree, it wasn't a scilon attack on our board.

I just posted to that effect on Enturb.

Thanks for the explanation.

Goddamn Goons.

Agreed. I did complain to them in the IRC, privately, but they were harping on about how we should be planning in IRC yatta yatta.

IRC is a fail method for planning.

I have some spare space on a hosting site if we want a public facing front.

I would go with the wiki, but copy partyvan and lock the front (and very public) page(s), with a free for all "discussion" page linked to it.
That would allow us to have a nice public facing information site with additions occurring in the spirit of anon "behind the scenes".

If you need help with anything let me know. I work in website development. Most of my time is spent making spam emails, but I know what Im doing. :)

An IRC channel would be good.
