Anonymous May not forget... but I most definitely do.

Anty - March 26, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
Joy, lovely practice for my speech impediment ;DD

Tallanon - March 26, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
Rick roll

Still alive

Chocolate rain

Pokemon

Fresh prince

All songs we should know. Which we should sing.

Lulz0matic - March 26, 2008 07:08 PM (GMT)
Why Pokemon?

Soul Intruder - March 26, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)
Me and my mates made a drunk dance to don't stop me now... tis quite good :D

Tallanon - March 26, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)

Kinda makes us look like basement nerds to the general public though.

I back Don't Stop Me Now, love that song.

Lolita Protestor - March 26, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
Right, so don't stop me now,

can anyone sing falsetto?

Soul Intruder - March 26, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
Ah not me, my singing teacher always said i had a nice bottom end ;)

I don't think it matters if we're having a bit of a group sing-song.

Made me laugh

In other news

I know that one of the people coming is in a choir, maybe I can cajole her into registering here and getting involved in the singsong

Soul Intruder - March 26, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
That would be nice. But still if we're in a group then it shouldn't matter a whole lot.

Shame, the only thing we're missing for a good sing-song is insane amounts of booze!

Lolita Protestor - March 26, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
I don't drink so getting merry won't be an issue

Seconded, dont drink either.

Anyway, arnt you people afraid we are getting to "Meme" with this songs, some of them are good but Pokemon theme? That Over 9000 remix, why not just play a shoop da whoop while we are at it and all pretend blast the scifag building.

No offense meant

Lulz0matic - March 26, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
Laz0rz charged to critical levels.

GorillaWarfare - March 26, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
A song I'd like to hear at least played at the event is "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield.

ScudMuffin - March 26, 2008 11:21 PM (GMT)
There are only two songs, imho, that should be sung.

1) Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
2) Queen - I Want To Break Free.

They get to the point.

Maybe Orange Goblin's "Cosmo Bozo", though I think that'll go over peoples heads and the lyrics are rude.

Most Definitely Seconded.

Thirded for the air guitar solos... and the whole getting to the point thing

Lolita Protestor - March 26, 2008 11:35 PM (GMT)
Fall to pieces--Velvet revolver? Y or n?

t's been a long year
Since you've been gone
I've been alone here
I've grown old
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

[CHORUS]
Every time I'm falling down
All alone I fall to pieces

I keep a journal of memories
I'm feeling lonely, I can't breathe
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

[CHORUSx3]

All the years I've tried
With more to go
Will the memories die
I'm waiting
Will I find you
Can I find you
We're falling down
I'm falling

[CHORUSx4]

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/f/foo+fighters/...y_20054712.html

Learn to Fly: Foo fighters (THE BEST THE BEST!) "Make my way back home, When I learn to fly (high)"

anon66 - March 27, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
How about Pink Floyds Wish You Were Here? It seems appropriate for Operation Reconnect.

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Its quite a slow song, but if we could make a few temporary signs with the names of people who have disconnected e.g.( name ) Your family misses you, It could be quite effective.

Any thoughts?

ScudMuffin - March 27, 2008 03:04 AM (GMT)
Yes to Pat Benetar, but definitely to Pink Floyd.

To be honest it's best to pick ones that the general public would know, else your headshot hits the wall instead.

KISS

Keep It Simple Stupid.

A crazy abundance of songs is bad, as we can't play songs all the time.

Bring the Queen songs as everyone will know that, Break Free is a good suggestion.

Meme songs are good, we're allowed to have our fun too, dispite the fact i spent most of my time on New Street it was nice to hear Fresh Prince and Pokemon etc.

Yes, it's fun to plan and think "Yeah! That song will sound awesome at the protest!" but we can't go over the top with it.

We are Anonymous, sure we have to get more serious if we wanna take down $cientology.. But again, we're Anonymous... and we know how to have fun!

I don't know half the songs listed above... (Queen's the exception)

yes, I have spent my entire life under a rock... But I had my computer under there with me.

Part Of The Union
by Ford/Hudson, (The Strawbs)
(with edits)

Now I'm an anonymous man
Amazed at what I am
I say what I think
That scientology stinks
Yes I'm an anonymous man.

When we protest at their hall
I'll be chanting with them all
With a hell of a shout
It's out cult out
And the rise of scientology's fall.

Oh you won't get me I'm part of the union
You won't get me I'm part of the union
You won't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

As an anonymous man I'm wise
To the lies of scientology spies
And I don't get fooled
By the cult's bad rules
'Cause I always read between the lines.

And I always get my day
If I strike for a better way
When I show my mask
To the Scientology brass
This what I say.

Oh you won't get me I'm part of the union
You won't get me I'm part of the union
You won't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

Before anonymous did appear
Peoples lives were half as clear
Now I've got the power
To the protesting hour
And every other day of the year.

So though I'm an anonymous man
I can ruin Scientology's plan
Though for much I don't ask
The sight of my mask
Makes me some kind of superman.

Oh you won't get me I'm part of the union
You won't get me I'm part of the union
You won't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

That's open to suggestions

[edit]

1. Changed "don't" to "won't"

"Street Fighting Man" by Rolling Stones. Needs to be played/sung in the spirit of activism (and V for Vendetta).

Annoam - March 27, 2008 08:45 PM (GMT)
Paramores Crush Crush Crush sort of works:

I got a lot to say to you
Yeah, I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here
And it makes no sense at all

They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
You little spies
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
You little spies

Problem is after that it becomes a love song. but hey im trying

Perhaps Together Forever - Rick Astley?.. srsly.

QUOTE

If there's anything you need
All you have to do is say
You knew you satisfy everything in me
We shouldn't waste a single day

So don't stop me falling
It's destiny calling
A power I just can't deny
It's never changing
Can't you hear me, I'm saying
I want you for the rest of my life

* Together forever and never to part
Together forever we two
And don't you know
I would move heaven and earth
To be together forever with you

If they ever get you down
There's always something I can do
Because I wouldn't ever wanna see you frown
I'll always do what's best for you

There ain't no mistaking
It's true love we're making
Something to last for all time
It's never changing
Can't you hear me, I'm saying
I want you for the rest of my life

(* repeat)

So don't stop me falling
It's destiny calling
A power I just can't deny
It's never changing
Can't you hear me, I'm saying
I want you for the rest of my life

Most Definitely Seconded.

Thirded, would also recommend Show Must Go On - incredibly moving and very relevant lyrics especially given the theme of the protest.

Simple Plan - When I'm Gone.

QUOTE
I look around me
But all I seem to see
Is people going nowhere
Expecting sympathy
It's like we're going through the motions
Of a scripted destiny
Tell me where's our inspiration
If life won't wait
I guess it's up to me

Whoah
No we're not gonna waste another moment in this town
Whoah
We wont come back, the world is coming out
Whoah
Leave the past in the past gonna find the future
And misery loves company
Well so long
You'll miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Procrastination running circles in my head
While you sit there contemplating
you'll wind up left for dead
Life is what happens
While you're busy making your excuses
Another day, another casualty
But that won't happen to me

Whoah
No we're not gonna waste another moment in this town
Whoah
We wont come back, the world is coming out
Whoah
Leave the past in the past gonna find the future
And misery loves company
Well so long
You'll miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone

(Let's go)
Won't look back
When I say goodbye
I'm gonna leave this hole behind me
Gonna take what's mine tonight
'cause every wasted day
Becomes a wasted chance
You're gonna wake up feeling sorry
'cause life won't wait
I guess it's up to you

Whoah
No we're not gonna waste another moment in this town
Whoah
We wont come back, the world is coming out
Whoah
Leave the past in the past gonna find the future
And misery loves company
Well so long
You'll miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Lyric correction (it was wrong on the site I c&p'ed from.)

The world is coming out should be the world is CALLING out.

I liek it anyway.

I shall bring my acoustic guitar.
I suck at acoustic, but I will learn a couple of songs.
Other anons could use it too.

I can play guitar (self taught so don't expect miracles). If anyone's bringing an amp I'll bring my electric as well.
