Title: Help from psychiatrists.

Anon76 - March 25, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
As this is about the CoS anti psychiatry policy, could we perhaps contact psychiatric associations or psychiatric departments at the local Universities for help/advice?

Just a thought, comments?

Edit: adding contact details.

That's a great idea.

Could we use the existing letter template for this? Or would we need a new one?

I'd say probably a new one is needed, as a very rough draft (after a few beers):
QUOTE

Dear XXX

As you are probably aware, the 'Church' of Scientology is opposed to all forms of psychiatric counseling and medicine.

Their front group the (misleadingly named) Citizens Commission on Human Rights is planning an exhibition called "psychiatry: an industry of death" at the Queens square shopping centre in West Bromwich from 31st March to 17th April. This is the exhibition featured in last years Panorama programme: Scientology and me. The exhibition claims that psychiatry is responsible for the nazi holocaust and eugenics.

Recently an internet group called Anonymous has formed to try to expose the illegal and unethical practices of the 'church' of scientology. As part of our campaign, we intend to picket this exhibition and contact the local media to try to prevent this exhibition or at least ensure that they do not get to promote their extreme and offensive views unopposed.

We would appreciate any advice or support you could offer in our campaign. Specifically contacting the local or national media, as correspondence from respected psychiatry professionals will have more impact than emails/phone calls from the general public.

If you would like to see our plans so far please see the following link: http://brumanon.co.uk/index.php?showforum=5

I look forward to hearing from you

Yours sincerely

I wonder... how hard would it be to put up anon-posters in the psychiatry sections of the uni's???

Note: Ineffective unless during term-time, which will not be over the happy-shopper show, I believe.

This could be a great idea if we left literature with mental health clinics about the dangers of Scientology and their beliefs about mental health.
I think I could help here too, I know someone who runs a mental health clinic.
