Title: Close to Student Territory ???

Bruce - April 7, 2008 01:44 PM (GMT)
Just looked on Google Maps. Whilst the new $cieno shop has some decent houses around it, it also seems within very easy walking distance of the Selly Oak private student accom for Birmingham Uni.

Just a thought but as part of the battle against Moor Green Lane if it has not already been mentioned or actually done would it be an idea to start lobbying the student housing people and also the Students Union to give them a heads up and who may in turn pass the info on to the Uni chaps and chapesses.

You know what? That's actually not a bad idea.

Having looked up some of the University of Brum student groups, I'm tempted to say it might be difficult getting a lot of people involved. They're fragmented to hell.

We'd need to get hold of some head guy or something who knows a lot of people to get involved.

Finding the right people is a pain in the arse, as I've discovered. The more people that get on this, the better, because I'm frankly crap at getting things done within a reasonable length of time. If no-one else does it, I'll give 'em a ring, but I'd much rather not represent us if I can avoid it.

One thing that may be useful would be to get the guild to take an official stance against CO$. I've heard they do lots of things like that... saying

"oh yes... we don't like what you're doing in *insert faraway country here* so THERE." About conflict zones. Pointless, in my opinion, but there we go.

We could get some Studentfags to put a motion to guild council? At least if the guild is against it they won't be able to get a foothold in the uni, brainwashing students. Trying to find a student group that would give two shits about the CO$, I think, would be hard.
