Who IS the 'heavy' dude?! He looked kinda mean and scary, not to mention kinda unsavory when he appeared to be urinating into Cafe Rouge's outside potted plants/shrubbery! LOL

Anyways, all that aside, besides it being cold and rainy at times (OK, I'm a wimp from South Florida .. I confess to my wimpiness) I thought today was a *WIN*!

What really cool, fun, friendly, dedicated Anons you all are, and even though I'm just visiting the UK for a short while (until Nov) I hope to meet you all again at the next protest before I leave. (can anyone tell me when it will be?)

As my brother in LA so rightly pointed out ... the protests in the UK always tend to be much more fun and lighthearted than back home, (while still managing to get the message across loud and clear) but that's prolly down to the fact that the Co$ over here don't hold the power that they do in the states and so the intimidation level isn't so in-yer-face and/or blatant?

Thanks for such an epic day guys .... but I didn't get any cake, donuts, or any other sweet naughty delights! :( (Prolly because I was (a) trying to figure out just what that 'HEAVY' dude was doing to those potted plants and (B) also trying to figure out if he was friend or foe? He looked kinda on the foe side, but whadda I know?! ;)

One last thing .. who was the "sexy chick" ya'll keep referring to? I mean, did she turn up lookin' like Lady Godiva or something, cuz I must've missed that one!?'

I think EVERYONE there today was sexy, because anyone who stands up for what is right and isn't afraid to show up and shout it out is SEXY to the max!

TODAY = *WIN* Whoot! ;)

Yup, missed the 'sexy' blue wigged anon ... I was too busy trying to figure out how to smoke my cigarette without removing my mask.

Sill looking for answers as to who that heavy dude was/is?

martinpoulter - April 12, 2008 07:26 PM (GMT)
This has been probably my favourite ever experience of protesting against Co$, and I'm really impressed with the Brumanons.

Firstly, though, I'm really sorry to the people whose eardrums I attacked with that damn siren. Several times, people would come and talk to me, I would get animated and move my arms about, and nudge that little switch which gave them a deafening blast. Argh! I hope no-one's fillings were shaken out.

Experiences I count as WIN:

* Talking to the press journalist: it'll be a short item, not a major story, but we got a point across.
(I'm disappointed I didn't hear from either of the two BBC journalists, but there you go)
* The South African guy whose mother has disconnected from him. Great that we're giving a voice to such people and I look forward to seeing the interview on YouTube.
* Recruiting new Anonymous: passers-by seeing that picketing was fun and asking about us, what boards to go to to get involved.
* [i]Some[i] engagement from the Scientologists. I would really like to have spoken to Chris Wrapson, but the one guy did get into a debate with us even though he kept saying that the conversation was over, that he wouldn't speak to anyone wearing a mask, and so on. He's not going to leave immediately because of what we say to him: that's not the point. Any direct experience arguing against them is good, I reckon.
* When we were talking to the guy on the door, who was boasting about how much he knows about Scientology, and a guy who had been in Scn years ago in London came up and harangued him, saying that he was in no doubt Scn is a brainwashing cult.
* Passers-by who had had bad experiences with the cult stopping and thanking us
* Separating into a memes-y area in front of the Org and a public-facing area on New Street, and being able to go back and forth between them as we felt like.
* Protestors having lots fun- and for most of it, the fun didn't detract from the point of the protest.
* Thousands of leaflets given out- some of the anons at the side of the protest were very persistent and effective in approaching the public politely, talking to them and encouraging them to take a leaflet.
* The guy who had the "Hello L. Ron, this is Xenu" song on his mobile. That was some pretty high-tech protesting. In retrospect, we could have used it to deliver the Anonymous Statements to the org - maybe next time.
* The cake was delicious! I was given a cup-cake with "anon" written on it in icing and - well, this probably sounds sad - I felt really honoured to be eating it.

Anonymous and Old Guard together are incredible!

May not be the case, but there were several lyric sheets printed out, and the rap was on there.

Well, they can keep it since it's pretty much knackered and will fall apart eventually.

KFC Bucket Anon here. Old man faced Anon has your umbrella, if you want it back you can get it at the next protest if you want, though it's slightly bent I believe >_> :P

Oh, thanks muchly! I always forget something at some point whenever I'm in Birmingham, and it's usually before I go XD. Don't think I'll be at the May one, unfortunately, but two people who know me will most likely be there so if you can give it to one of them, goes by the name of "Dr Joe Awesome", that'd be splendid.
