Title: Chelmsley Wood

almajir - April 13, 2008 07:55 AM (GMT)
Hi all.

Long time anon, first time poster here.

I'm not sure how many of you BrumAnons live out Chelmsley Wood way, but I have to report that I have now sighted Scientology offering "stress tests" on two successive Saturdays within Chelmsley Wood shopping centre.

They had two e-meters, and they are suckering people in. Much as Chemsley is seen as a bit of a sucky part of the world, they need to be told the truth.

I'm willing to stake out the Scientology marquee on the centre if anyone wants to join me; I've already caused a bit of bother and narked off the scilons there. Anyone else want to join?

Gor Blimey... that's miles away!!!

How to get there?

anonsrus - April 13, 2008 09:39 AM (GMT)
Wikipedia says there are bus routes running from Brum city centre.

Meet there and then all bundle into a bus?

anon1812 - April 13, 2008 09:41 AM (GMT)
that could be VERY amusing ^_^

I live 1 mile away from Chelmsley, so I know it well.

There are about 10 bus services linking the city with Chelmsley. Also anyone living on the East side of Birmingham or in Solihull will find it easy to get to.

There is normally a couple of security guards kicking around, but I reckon if we cleared it with North Solihull police station and maybe the centre management, we could really cause some lulz, and maybe help drive them away from another selling ground.

anonsrus - April 13, 2008 11:38 AM (GMT)
I reckon we'd have to have a better turnout than Happy Shopper did, and the sheer lulz of a bus full of Anon would be epic. It'd be better than people turning up there. If we were to meet in the city centre I reckon it'd work pretty well.

Lolita Protestor - April 13, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
I have no idea where this is, but if we all meet at a well known place in brum, we can do it.

GorillaWarfare - April 13, 2008 02:25 PM (GMT)
You can count me in too, depending on the date.

Question: Is it within TWM zone?

anon1812 - April 13, 2008 03:13 PM (GMT)
TWM?

almajir - April 13, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
Yes, it's within TWM zone - Chelmsley Wood is one of the largest housing estates in Europe, let alone the West Midlands.

If you are going to do by meeting up in town, then you need to catch one of the following buses to Chelmsley.

14, 55, 90, 94, 97, 97A.

I'd recommend the 97/97A as they are the most frequent. It stops in Brum outside Carrs Lane Church on Moor Street Queensway.

You'd need to get off at the Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre (which is undergoing some redevelopment). From the bus stop it's a three minute walk to the centre of the Shopping complex and where the Scilons have their Marquee.

TWM?

TWM = Travel West Midlands.

Lolita Protestor - April 13, 2008 03:20 PM (GMT)
Cool, for anyone travelling to brum, and then to this estate, get a 4.90 day tripper.

:D

ScudMuffin - April 13, 2008 05:11 PM (GMT)
£3 if you get them on the bus.

ScudMuffin - April 13, 2008 05:11 PM (GMT)
Date and time?

anonsrus - April 13, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
On IRC we agreed it should take place on a Sunday.

That's daysaver, buses only. Daytripper also covers trains into Brum.

Well, you could do that - but they won't be there

They only do Saturdays... :(

Aha, slight problem then.

Saturday April 26th anyone?

almajir - April 13, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
Is there protests organised for every Saturday in Birmingham then?

Or some other issue?

ScudMuffin - April 13, 2008 05:42 PM (GMT)
Once a month in brum, but we organise others in different places.

Depends who can get where.

26th is Blues vs Liverpool so I'll be at the game.

almajir - April 13, 2008 05:45 PM (GMT)
So will I, as a Bluenose.

It can be whenever - I've seen them three times in two months, I doubt they're going anywhere soon.

Lolita Protestor - April 13, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
4.90 on my bus. Its train, bus and metro.

almajir - April 13, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
Saturday 17th May?

Saturday 17th May?

I have a minor problem with 17 May, I've got more of the same pesky commitments that made me a latefag yesterday.

Lolita Protestor - April 13, 2008 06:41 PM (GMT)
Why not a little earlier?

That could work. Seeing as i can't make may 10th.

I want to do my part

almajir - April 13, 2008 07:26 PM (GMT)
Need someone to create a new subforum/sticky thread for it; and then we can make this win.

anonsrus - April 13, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
I'll have to work on making May 3rd, but we'll see how it goes. Run a vote round for a subforum?

Falco - April 13, 2008 07:40 PM (GMT)
Hmm, why not really?

anonsrus - April 15, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
Suggesting that Chelmsley Wood becomes the new mini-raid in place of Happy Shopper.

Y/N?

Why not really. The exhibition is over now/soon anyway isn't it?

as long as we all meet in brum first.

if it's all the same to you, I'll go straight from my home - it's seems a bit daft for me to go 8 miles into brum and then back out when I can walk to Chelmsley (it's only a mile for me)
