Title: Operation GAME OVER = Fail
purpletoonlink - April 13, 2008 09:11 PM (GMT)
Why we should focus specifically on Fair Game...
Aren't we making a point of doing so whenever we come out in masks?
God knows I made several references to Fair Game in conversations about the Church yesterday.
I'm lurking Enturb, and thought I'd add my own two cents here on the Op. name.

^ Disregard that,
PTL didn't log out of my account.

The most effective protests, some would say, had no theme. Therefore, I suggest we stick with Operation ???? as our theme.

Operation Disconnect's power was in the fact that it had a strong core concept that people could easily identify with - family. If we want to repeat that success, we should ideally focus on another specific thing, something people can get behind.
Me, I think we should focus on Their anti-psychiatric stance. A huge number of people have first or second-hand experience of psychiatry, and for most of them it will have been a hugely beneficial influence. A lot of my friends have gone through therapy at some point, or are on medication for whatever reason.
Even where people haven't had their lives really touched by the need for psychiatric counselling or whatever, the public image of doctors of all stripes is fairly good. I reckon it could be a good angle to take.

The only problem with Psychiatry is the amount of time it takes to explain CCHR.

Can we make the Frasier credits song our theme tune?
Lulz0matic - April 14, 2008 09:40 AM (GMT)
While I agree that themes are the way,
I agree that Fair Game would be a little =/...
That being said, I think Fair Game would be better than Operation PSYCHOUT.
Whatever ends up getting done worldwide, is what I think we should do...
Is this battletoads?

i can see it being good to just do an general protest, but when it comes to it, if theres somethings that people can identify with and relate to makes the job of exspling the problems a lot easer.
with disconnection every person has people they care about and focusing on the family aspect made people more sympathetic form the start.
with Fair game and psychiatry people have ether experience or generally know people who have, so again there more wiling to listen as it is something that could affect them or people they know.

I agrees with the Psychiatry angle. Having had personal, professional and educational experience with Psychiatry - I think it would enormously important to highlight the Scilons views on it.
But - I also think we should go with whatever is chosen for the worldwide protests - to keep a united front is very important.

I think that the name Operation Psychout was probably the biggest damning factor in the choice of Psychiatry as a theme for May. Perhaps for June, we ought to suggest it again, but with a better name.

Operation Fairgamestop
Preorder Battletoads.

Fair game came up more than often in explanations to people I spoke to so it's an idea.
However I know that I informed people of everything. Most asked what it was all about so I pretty much summarised, Disconnection, Fair Game, their views on stuff (such as Psychiactric help) Snowhite etc.
Which is what most people seemed to ask, just about everything as a whole.
Though anyone who specified was always "What are the masks about?"

Guys.
While you may not agree with the theme, it's decided, and it's worldwide. We need to stick to it.
Just because the theme will focus on fairgame doesn't mean that will be all we have to talk about. Take this time: While the theme was Disconnection, i'm sure we all informed the public about other aspects of the cult as well.

This.
The only thing Reconnect-like about 12/4 for me, was a slighty more on-topic sign, and me dropping into conversations that the focus of the day was CO$'s Disconnection policy... Other than that I reckon most of my time talking was spent on fairgame, freakout, snowhite, and £150k before they tell you about xenu.

So Fair Game is the topic for next month?
Then I suggest everyone has a copy of the ACTUAL quote on them, to reinforce that it's not something to be sneered at. It's incredibly helpful to have the actual paperwork with you, as I found with members of the public this weekend.
I did spend a lot of time telling people about Fair Game, and found that my laminated sign with the actual policy quote on it, helped in their understanding. Reading it for themselves helps to reinforce it in their minds that this is real, and that the 'church' really does use the policy.

Yeah, that seems to be the worldwide consensus now. Just deciding on a name last I checked.
And I second the suggestion for having a copy of the documentation on you, especially for this topic. If we manage to gain permission for leaflets, I'll try and get a load more printed, this time with the Fair Game quotes on and general info.

Paulette Cooper's story is a prime, and terrible, example of the CoS's use of their Fair Game policy. Reading up on that to back up what you say when talking to the public with a well-documented example would probably be very effective.
(And honestly, if you haven't read what they did to her, do so. Do so now.)

That's her name... I can always remember the story, and the rest of it, but never her name O_o
