Title: Greenpeace guys?
LittleChris - April 18, 2008 08:09 AM (GMT)
Did anyone give their details to those guys? And did they give a website in those letters? I forgot to pick one up.

I thought that they mentioned another one, but its probably just greenpeace.org like you said.

It's a pity they came on the wrong day, I'd have loved to help them out. And if they were scientologists, then that's just low...
DaftHats - April 18, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
I felt a bit uncomfortable with them approaching us at a time when we were doing our best to remain anonymous.
Did anyone write down their real names?
Falco - April 18, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
Did I miss this? What're we on about?
DaftHats - April 18, 2008 06:05 PM (GMT)
During the protest we had some people from one of the charities approach us and request signatures for a petition, or just to donate to it. (Either way, it envolved writing details onto a clipboard)
I don't know the full details, I was handing out leaflets on the other side of the street during the time.

yea i saw them, but dint go and see what they wonted. but i exspted it to be tying to get support for something.
Falco - April 18, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
Ah, I missed that then.
I trust that, by now, Anonymous will know better than to sign anything at a protest.

One of the Greenpeace guys came to Feb 10. I had talked to him at length then.

Speaking of Getting Signatures... those kids... with the "please sign my hat"... I'm sure I saw some names on there, Other than "anonymous".

What kids? I never saw any...
And that could be the names of the general public, or nick/online names, well, I hope...
Foamanon - April 19, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
I took one and told them I would read it and send it myself from home.
No need to give them my name.

Yeah, I saw that too. I did hear a couple of people say "this won't be my real name" when they signed it though, so maybe most people did the same.

Okay, on one hand, there's that those Greenpeace guys just wanted to save a bit of time and talk to a load of people at once, saving on giving the same shpeel many times do different individuals.
On the other hand (my paranoid brain seems to like this one) is that that one guy (who might/could be a Sclilon), having spoke to us last time, came up with the names and addresses scam for this time. Now, we all know that we didn't have to fill them in there and then and could send them via post at our leisure, but remember, the CO$ is a wealthy organisation and can easily afford stuff like this:
Sneaky beaky stuff - read the Ninhydrin bit.
Anyway, paranoid or not, I wasn't comfortable with those guys.
DaftHats - April 19, 2008 04:38 PM (GMT)
They are collecting our fingerprints as well?

I think there's a minor misconception, the guy I'd talked to wasn't with Greenpeace then, he was with Anon.

I don't know. Look at Op Snow White. Such practices are small fry compared to that! The technology is there at a price, and who knows how deep the iceberg (that is the CO$) goes underwater.
The question is, does the CO$ think we're worth such practices? Maybe in the circumstances where they blackmailed IRS operatives to get the tax exempt status they would see such things as worth doing.
To assist in the identification of a few masked people in the middle of Brum in order to declare them SP? I wouldn't have thought so, but then again, I'm not OSA so I don't know.
Free hugs dude - April 19, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
True, but they could try and make an example of one of us, just a thought.

I did some signatures related to scientology though, someone signed as "L.R. Hubbard", "Lisa McPhearson" or something close enough
I just signed as "Anon"

I didn't see the hats people, but I did manage to get a photo of the GreenPeace people. And though people may hate me for this, I bloody hate it when GP turn up anywhere - and I didn't like them hijacking the protest just to pass on information that people can get anywhere if they're so inclined.
