Title: Music and Players
BritFagATDI - February 28, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
Who can bring players, what quality are they, and whats the best play-list.
We don't need 30 people turning up with CD-players, so it would be best to organise this.
algy - February 28, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
i'm not bringing anything like that, no money! and we need megaphones etc it all depends on how many people show up
Anon76 - February 28, 2008 09:55 PM (GMT)
There's also the issue of a playlist and how often and how loud we should play music.
The issue is:
Making it fun and attracting attention
Vs
Annoying the public & police and looking more like a carnival than a protest
It might be a good idea if Ash asks a few questions about this when she next contacts the Police, once we have some guidelines from the police we could perhaps set up a poll or two to see how we are going to use music.
Hermes - February 28, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
I got a MP3 player if that helps sound quality is aright (depends on what its plugged into), also I got a 25W megaphone on the way
BritFagATDI - February 28, 2008 10:19 PM (GMT)
The Mega-Phone is a great help as it allows for alsorts, not only music, but saving the voice of the chant leaders.

Ah, the prepackaged younger generation...
Why not sing for yourselves?
http://www.daisy.freeserve.co.uk/xemu_songbook.htmhttp://www.daisy.freeserve.co.uk/stolgy_6.htmLots more of these scattered around the Internets.
algy - February 29, 2008 12:01 AM (GMT)
could you compose our singing? ;)
Lulz0matic - February 29, 2008 12:05 AM (GMT)
I've got a wicked range.
Accoustic guitars, guyz?
Epic free-style Meme song?
TheDudeWhoWearsTheNirvanaShirt - February 29, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
Get happy music... Like Madness. Everyone likes Madness.
And, if we all make get CD players and have the same playlist on our CDs playing them at the same time would surely make it loud enough...
anon1812 - February 29, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
Musical instruments??? If we can get some live music... Methinks it would be most awesome.
Hermes - February 29, 2008 12:08 AM (GMT)
Woolworths have got some cheap battery powered speakers going.... hook them up to a PA system or megaphone and you're made in the shade.
Anon76 - February 29, 2008 12:14 AM (GMT)
We do have to be careful about live music.
The laws governing public entertainment require licences in certain circumstances.
From what I've read on the laws, no licence is required if the music is not the main attraction or reason for the event. It's called "incidental entertainment". This covers such things as supermarkets playing background music etc. and should keep us safe if we have occasional pre-recorded tracks.
Live music would be something which would probably require licences.
Lulz0matic - February 29, 2008 12:30 AM (GMT)
Sing Acappella then.
They can't do us for singing, can they?
Excuse me while I rewrite the lyrics to Wonderwall.
('Cuz maybe, the Auditor is gonna come save me, 'cuz after all, he's an OT IV.)
Youtube it for epic win.
Hermes - February 29, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
Time for another shameless plug of the chant I thought of:
To the tune of the end of "The Angry Mob" by Kaiser Chiefs (you know the chanty bit):
We are Anonymous,
We check the forums everyday,
We do not forgive,
We do not forget,
And we're not so easily swayed.

Today, (X) years ago today,
L. Ron Hubbard was born to you.
By now they should've somehow,
Realized the truth about Xenu.
We don't believe that anybody,
(Something something something) now...
Take a look at this pertition (Sp?!) we are signing.
Scifiology tax-exempt clause is declining?
We want to throw a meme in here, like perhaps 'Longcat is Looooooooong,'
But we don't know how.
But said maybe
An Auditor will come and save me,
'Cuz after all,
He's an Oh Tee Four.
- - - -
Needs MOAR work/memes.
When was he born?
Annoam - February 29, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)

Needs that one line sorting, then a slight tweak,
And then it's delicious copypasta.

Talking of L.Con, (a bit off topic here) but did anyone read the story that he actually plagarised the whole scientology thing from an earlier book by an earlier author who published a book called sceintolge in 1935.
Lulz0matic - February 29, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
Yeah, he totally ripped off Jabba the Hutt and everything.
TheDudeWhoWearsTheNirvanaShirt - February 29, 2008 01:28 AM (GMT)
Madnessss....
"I never thought I'd laugh half as much as I do
And I never thought I'd feel this way the way I feel about Xenu.
As soon as I wake up, every night, Everday
I know that there's something I really need to say"
That's all I've got so far.

Hermes - February 29, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
Anyone up for "Sweet Thetan O' Mine"
Ash - February 29, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)
We do have to be very careful with music. Violation of copyright aside we don't want to do anything to dilute our message. A few chants would be good but this CAN'T be a party - the party will come later, with luck this year, after we've won ;)
Apart from anything else, we can't cause noise pollution and any music that is OTT, too loud or angry could give us a bad reputation with the police and the public. For this reason we should keep it light and perhaps only have a couple of blasts during the day, just for lulz sake. Fresh Prince and Astley are a must. I think anything more than that and we'll run into trouble.
Hermes - February 29, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Megaphone came today....woooot!
Falco - February 29, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
It's already been said, but just to re-iterate the point:
Not too loud.
Not too often.
Hermes - March 1, 2008 12:07 AM (GMT)
Awww, does that mean I don't get to use the siren function? :D
TheGuyFromTheCrowd - March 1, 2008 10:17 AM (GMT)
To be fair, that Wonderwall rewrite is pure epic win, I found a real good anti- scientology song on t'internet, if I stumble upon it again I shall post the link, but it was songs based upon popular tunes and things like that so singing those there is no worry about copyright.

Exactly - although it would possibly make a few more heads turn, the Police wouldn't allow it. I saw a small protest in Brum a few months ago, and someone kept using a siren and a airhorn. The police told them to stop, or they'd be dispersed.

Another thing is a proformance license.
Don't you need some sort of license to play music in public to cver copy rights of the songs you play?
Anyhoo, I think we should add "anothr brick in the wall (part 2)" to the play list.
We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
TheDudeWhoWearsTheNirvanaShirt - March 1, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
Hey XENU, Leave Them Kids Alone.
Hermes - March 1, 2008 07:15 PM (GMT)
We don't need no exploitation... maybe? But still a good song to choose

Thank you good sir.

How about this its about anonymous and contains a few memes...It is quite a long song though. Maybe we could just sing the chorus.

While it's a pretty good song, I think it mgiht be an idea to stick to more well known songs, that the general public will understand.
Anyone else got any thoughts on this?
Hermes - March 2, 2008 10:21 PM (GMT)
That song is full on win (especially the 4th verse), but I see it being hard to sing loud in a crowd.
J.B. - March 2, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the feedback, Falco. I agree with your opinion, afterall, enticing the public is our maingoal. I just thought it would be a good moral booster to have our own song.
