Title: CCHR Birmingham exhibit
anonuk323 - March 5, 2008 12:19 PM (GMT)
EraserRain over on Entrubulation forums spotted this;
http://www.cchr.org.uk/exhibitions.htmAnti psych exhibit in West Bromwich from 31st March to 17th April.
I'm not entirely sure if we could make an effective protest here;
1) Its in a shopping centre, which is private property; we cant setup across from the exhibit if we don't have permission
2) Its in West Bromwich, possibly making travel difficult
3) What sort of message could we use? CCHR = CoS? LRH had psych drugs in his system when he died? I dunno, I can't think of anything.
Any ideas?
Anon76 - March 5, 2008 12:29 PM (GMT)
It's actually in a shopping centre?
We could write to the shopping centre letting them know that the CCHR is just a front for the CoS and giving them a bit of background info. I'm sure that if they knew the full facts most shopping centres would not want to be associated with something like this.
I'd suggest that the letters should be anonymous as if the shopping centre has agreed to this, there is a chance that the management there might be Scilons.
anon1812 - March 5, 2008 01:39 PM (GMT)
I spy a problem... If the exhibit is over several days... we can't picket every day of it...
So what is to be done?
Lulz0matic - March 5, 2008 02:20 PM (GMT)
Go for the first and last day?
I live in West Brom, so travel won't be a problem for me. =P
I also have Monday's off. =DDD
Anon76 - March 5, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
Prevention is better than cure.
I'll try to get an email contact address for the management of the shopping centre, and compose an email detailing the facts about CCHR.
If they are advised of the real nature of this exhibition and the bad publicity and customer relations in hosting this exhibition, they may reconsider their decision to allow it.
I'll post a copy of the email and the email address here and on Enturb when it's done, the more emails they get the better.
Lulz0matic - March 5, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
Hmmm.
I just checked the website;
If it's in Queen's Square, (which is the half closest the Police Station,) then it's going to be inside, right outside tescos (chances are.)
Unless you were to protest outside the shopping centre itself, (keeping in mind there are four entrances to Queen's square,) then you're pretty much fucked.
^'s suggestion is probably the best course of action.
Also, I'm heading up West Brom now; I can check some stuff out discretly;
I'll post if I find anything useful out.
III - March 5, 2008 03:22 PM (GMT)
it'd be funny protesting against this lot.
what would they say against us, that we're religious bigots? lol.
the only thing they could do is deny any involvement with the CoS, and we can provide proof of that.
however, in the circumstances I think a protest is probably not gonna happen.
working on edumacating the shopping centre and getting the exhibition stopped is the best route now, as people have said
Lulz0matic - March 5, 2008 03:40 PM (GMT)
RESULTS
The exibition will take up the entire space infront of shops such as Tesco, Boots, Thortons, etc.
Emails trying to stop the exibit are more likely to work, trying to gain permission for protests in the vicinity are secondary if at first all fails.
Are teh management Scilons?
Doubt it.
I was vague in my asking of information, giving a wrong date, only stating the first three letters of the organisation's name (CCH something,)
I said I was writing a psych-paper and the contrasting view would be helpful.
"What's that got to do with the exibit?"
It's about the dangers of psychology.
"Fucking hell."
Yeah; they didn't actually know what was going on at all. =/
But then, perhaps someone higher up than the guy I spoke to does know more?
Whatever.
Teh MOAR you know.
Tum Tum - March 5, 2008 04:34 PM (GMT)
This has to be protest against or if we can't protest then why not make up over 9000 flyers between us and on the days even if it's one or two people handing out flyers for an hour outside the event informing people what the Citizens Commission Of Human Rights is and what they believe.
As not many people will know who or what there are and get blind sided.
This should be only a last resort if the emails getting the event cancelled FAIL!
Anon76 - March 5, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
I've been doing a bit of digging and I've found an email address which we can use to express our concerns - [Edit Email address doesn't work, Minor setback is Minor]
The battle lines have been drawn, I smell epic victory on the horizon.
Let Operation Happy Shopper commence.

West Brom is really easy to get to. You can get the Metro Tram from Snow Hill to West Bromwich Central, which drops you over the road from the shopping centre. There are also a lot of buses that go from Brum to West Brom. I haven't been on the route for a while, but I think the most frequent are the 79 (Brum - Wolves via West Brom) and the 74 (Brum - Dudley via West Brom). These go into the bus station, which again is right next to the shopping centre.
Anon76 - March 5, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Here's a draft of the email that I intend to send as soon as we can find a valid email address to send it to.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my deepest concern over a proposed exhibition to be hosted by the Queens Square Shopping Centre.
The exhibition is called 'Psychiatry - An Industry Of Death' by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights and is due to run from Monday 31st March until Thursday 17th April 2008. - See link http://www.cchr.org.uk/exhibitions.htm
Whilst the name "Citizens Commission on Human Rights" certainly makes it sound like they are a alturistic group looking to help people, the truth is somewhat different.
The group have absolutely no interest in stopping the many human rights abuses around the world, they are an ofshoot of the Church of Scientology (http://www.cchr.org.uk/about.htm) and their only agenda is promoting the CoS's extreme views on psychiatric care and psychiatric medicines.
The CCHR & Church of Scientology's views on Psychiatric care and psychiatric medicine are well documented and include the belief that psychiatry is responsible for Eugenics and the Holocaust.
See the following image of the Scientology exhibition 'Psychiatry - An Industry Of Death' in Los Angeles -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Piod_museum_eugenics.jpg from the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychiatry:_A...dustry_of_Death
This bizarre and offensive belief was also shown in BBC Panorama: Scientology and me, broadcast in 2007.
I'm sure that you realise by now that hosting this exhibition would be HIGHLY OFFENSIVE to a large number of your customers and I trust that you will now reconsider your decision to allow this exhibition to take place in the Queens Square Shopping Centre.
Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns and I look forward to your reply.

If they come back with some bollocks or an excuse as to why they're not cancelling it I will send a further email pointing out that protests outside the shopping centre, articles in newspapers and on TV and Radio may be bad for their public relations.

Not too bad then, I think I can make use of those to get there fairly easily. Don't suppose you know whether it's quicker to go from Dudley or Wolvo?
Lulz0matic - March 5, 2008 11:01 PM (GMT)
From Dudley to West Brom is quicker than Wolvo to West Brom (Via bus.)
The buses take the same amount of time from Birmingham to West Brom.
An Alt. is getting the 16 to the end of the line, then the 406 to west brom.
Nothing would beat the Metro though;
Birmingham To West Brom - 12 Minutes.
Wolvo to West Brom - About 20 minutes, I think.
EPIC WIN.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Midland Metro FTW!!!

Shall I drop down the police station and inform them of the possible protests outside of the shopping centre in advance?
Anon76 - March 6, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
I'd wait a bit first, if we can get the exhibition stopped before it begins as we hope, there will be no protests.
Lulz0matic - March 6, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
Of course.
But the police station is about five minutes walk from my house;
should it come to that, I'm more than prepared to go on that little walk; for great justice, of course.
anon.deplume - March 6, 2008 07:26 AM (GMT)
I think we need to have a little exhibition of our own... just to show the public how excellently the Co$ treat mental illness...
Maybe we could tell them what a great job the Co$ did with elli perkins son?
:angry:
iratus - March 6, 2008 08:06 AM (GMT)
Hi,
Long time lurker first time poster.
This has made my blood boil that they can sell their pseudo science in shopping centres across the regions.
May I suggest some other actions; first I think the press need to be involved, maybe a press release outlining the 'church's' position on psychiatric care and perhaps outlining some of the metal health issues in the west brom area.
Secondly, get the local MP and councillors involved. I don't know any of their positions on them but it may help, this is the MP for the area in which the shopping centre is in:
http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/tom_watso...t_bromwich_eastIf all else fails how about we waste their time, we won't be able to protest in the shopping centre but we can spend time at their stand feigning interest and saving the vulnerable who may be sucked into this nonsense. i would volunteer for anydays I'm not at work.
Lulz0matic - March 6, 2008 11:33 AM (GMT)
Thought;
If any of us lovely people get some air time as a result of the 15th, why not plug the exhibit as well?
Peoplez watch tv; and if ten people are educated in regards to what the CCHR is all about prior because of the news report on the protest;
Well, that's just less work to do when we get there, should we get there.

"...If all else fails how about we waste their time, we won't be able to protest in the shopping centre but we can spend time at their stand feigning interest and saving the vulnerable who may be sucked into this nonsense. i would volunteer for anydays I'm not at work...."
I'm just a concerned member of the public... I'd be more than happy to go and look at the exhibit and then ask the people running it what the hell they are droning on about in front of everyone...
I'm more than a little....shall we say...vocal..
;)

You can't be angry when you say it, or even slightly aggressive... That's the image they want to pin on Anonymous, and that's the image we don't want.
I agree for the wasting their time idea... sounds like fun, being overtly obnoxious without noticing it... Oxymorons are great.
Anon76 - March 6, 2008 06:30 PM (GMT)
It could be dangerous to approach the exhibition itself as you would have to do this unmasked and I'm sure there will be people there from the Birmingham CoS who will most likely have studied all the photos and film footage they took of us on Feb 10th and will take on Mar 15th and will be keeping an eye out for anyone deliberately being a nuisance to their exhibit.
The CCHR and the CoS are two sides of the same coin with close links.
Anon76 - March 6, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get an email address for the manager or someone at the Queens Square Shopping Centre.
My internet searches have come up blank.

Yep I got that one, but the contact listed there is from their PR company called good relations. She doesn't directly work for the Shopping Centre itself.
I have emailed her to ask for a contact email but no response yet.
I might give the shopping centre a phone call tomorrow.

Okay... I can do snotty and obnoxious without losing my temper.
I wont give them the satisfaction of playing the victim card.

I'm sorely tempted just to do it. (If we can't find a way of stopping it)
If they're going to start harassing people, it would look brilliant for us if they targeted a young mother with manic depression wouldn't it?
Believe you me.. and understanding completely that you have my best interests at heart..
I am a worthy foe, and I WOULD make it very very messy for them.
:D

If it was retarded of me to post this in this thread, then I'm sorry, but its about CCHR so I couldn't think of where else to put it, and maybe some of you could use this stuff in your emails/letters/whatever.
For those who still check enturb, you may have seen this, but for those who haven't....
http://forums.enturbulation.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6059The link is to the enturb thread, click the link in the OP to download 'em.
Basically, a bunch of emails have been leaked stating the true nature of CCHRs actions and confirming links to the CO$.
Like I said, sorry if I shouldn't have posted this here, but if the people with the power to cancel the exhibit want solid proof they've got it right here, straight from the CCHR themselves. Even if it's not of any use, it's still a pretty good read, especially the "Whatever you do DON'T say we are scientologists" one.

No luck with finding a direct email address for the Queens Square shopping centre, they are just not answering the phone.
I'm getting a recorded message asking me to leave my number and they will get back to me.
I have found out that the Manager there is called Mel Glasby.
If anyone else can get an email address I'll love you forever.
I'll keep you updated.
