Guise!

Just got phoned by the City of London polices.

They've been seeking advice from various advisory bodies, lawyers, etc, about what we can/cannot do
For the purposes of the raids the police are treating The Church Of Scientology as a religion, and as such the Hate Crimes division is being called in on the raids for stricter policing. they've had a lot fo complaints of harassment from us (all of them LIES! as i told the officer, and even told him about the history of LIES! that scientology has, but he said it's a "their word against ours" and as a shady internet group our word isn't as strong as theirs)

So expect *MUCH* stricter policing as to signage and so forth.

basic rules:
Signs that give an "opinion" (such as "SCIENTOLOGY IS A CULT!" ) will be asked to be taken down. IF the holder does not comply then the details of the holder will be taken down. If the officer suspects fake details the holder will be v&.

As long as a sign states a "Fact" (such as "Justice Latey says; SCIENTOLOGY IS A CULT!" ) are much more likely to be accepted.
Basically. BRING DOCUMENTATION TO BACK UP WHAT YOUR SIGN SAYS!

it's largely down to what the officer in charge on the day feels about a sign. i cannot say for sure what will/will not be acceptable to the City Of London Police. but hte guideline of FACT/OPINION is what has been given to me. so if at all possible, bring paperwork to back up your sign. or ask someone else to if you can't.
I fully intend to bring a dictionary and the statement of justice latey (or whatever his name was) to combat any claims to the Cult being false.

tl;dr : someone in the Met is getting their arse chopped at and wants to treat the Scilons as a religion. Careful with those signs or be v&.

Damnit. Too late to change my sign now. I'll bring it, if there's a problem, I can bin it easy enough.

It's probably just the Met getting fidgety. Remember, the Brum coppers didn't even turn up until we started chatting to BBB, and that was in the afternoon.

True, never hurts to be careful though. I'll make sure it's easily disposed of just in case, but I can't forsee us having much of a problem here in Brum really.

anonsrus - May 8, 2008 03:41 PM (GMT)
Met != Brum, amirite?

Anon76 - May 8, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
Met = Metropolitan Police = London

West Midlands Police = Brum

But they do obviously have links with each other. So, use caution, but don't panic :)

For the lulz:

That is a pigeon - That is more than probably a cult, but don't quote me on that due to ridiculous legislation misused by the Met police whose Chief Superintendent welcomed them into London a few years back!

But can you legally call it a pigeon? It's just your opinion.

You think "Mr Fetch made me do it" would be fine?

Anon76 - May 8, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Or at 5pm, just before we leave we all shout:

ALLEGEDLY!

I really really REALLY would like to do this :D

Helmetanon - May 9, 2008 10:21 AM (GMT)
We should totally try and memorize that.

Okay, so I'm gonna go add Justice Latey's name to my sign. There's still a bit of free space.

Heh, ROFL. I imagine the second part (the cult aprt) said in a fast pace as to not lengthen the chant too much :P Would be aces if we managed to chant that, hmmm. I'll print a copy to bring so I got something to read it from.
