I've had some correspondance and a phone conversation with theOTHERdave this week.

I don't know the background, but it seems that, on the basis of some of his behaviour, people think he's a scilon plant. This is very upsetting to him and has stopped him attending protests.

Having had the chance to speak with theOTHERdave, I don't think he's a scientologist plant. I just don't. I can't say I'm totally, irrevocably sure, but then I'd only be totally sure about people I've known a long time. I've met numerous present and former scientologists, including some who were trying to pass themselves off as protestors.

It's clearly a good idea to be wary, but - I've been there myself- suspicion can lead to interpreting any behaviour out of the ordinary as a sign that someone's an infiltrator.

What does seem to have happened is that he just hasn't got on with some people here. That's life. I know from the Old Guard days that people will want to protest for widely different reasons, and people don't always get on. Maybe A will get on with B, B is friendly with C but A and C just don't get on. So you recognise your differences and do things your respective ways, so long as no-one's actually discrediting the protest. We're seeing this in Anonymous with some who like hug raids and some being dead against them

So this is my perception, but I realise my judgement isn't well informed in this case. I write this without having heard the other side of the story, so I'd welcome hearing that and I welcome a debate about why people are suspicious of him - in PM if not here on the forum. I emphasise that he sounds very hurt by this, that I don't think it's anybody's fault but I hope there's a chance of making the situation better.

It was the daggers stares when someone mentioned "LCon Hub Fraud" that did it for a bunch of the IRC crew.

"LRonymous", he scarpered when OTIII was being read, and was seen entering CoS.

I feel I need to defend myself here. I am theOTHERdave and bobthevet. I have no problem with anybody playing the OTIII stuff I have some on my iPod which I Found out about on enturb. I actually have some audio files of l Ron Hubbard Talking about Xenu the loyal officers ect ect which I wanted to play some of it at the demos. before I was accused of being a spy.

The last protest I was at I left occasionally because I had to get lunch and I felt like having a wonder around the City centre. Hardly a crime. I don't remember anyone mocking L Ron but you can insult him in front of me as much as you want I think he was a psychopath who had nothing but contempt for even basic human rights. If i was a scientologist they wouldn’t even allow me to think that. I Have never gone into one of the orgs. I may have stood close to one but I have never actually gone inside.

The demasking demask on protest, after the world wide speech that was read out, was a problem too. Hence we're a bit close knit and monitor everything.

is this guy the one (I vaguely remember dave being in the name) who turned up in the feb 10th planning thread and started acting odd? I remember me, ash and a few other people immediately had the same bad feeling about them, but benefit of the doubt was given and all that, and nothing came of it (he's quite a good plant if he is and it's the guy i'm thinking of).

I agree with the benefit of the doubt part. I've gone to Ethel St and disappeared before, namely to get hold of some Dianetics info and/or leaflets from the cult. I like to see what they're distributing. I don't regard theOTHERdave's actions as those of a plant just by merit of the actions; there are other explanations that are less accusatory and paranoid.

The rest of the accusations you're levelling against him are pretty circumstantial, and could easily just be misinterpretations. Innocent until proven guilty, etc.

Even if he is a 'plant', does he really pose a threat to our protests? There is nothing we do on the day that hasn't already been discussed on here, and if he starts making trouble (presumably to give our group a bad reputation with the cops) then he will very much be in the minority and hence will be pretty ineffective. With regard to keeping your identity hidden, use your common sense. Keep the mask up; don't use your real name; quietly tell anyone who tries to get personal details to GTFO.

Though it's unlikely, I'd actually love theOTHERdave to be a plant. Constant exposure to our protests will give him the facts the Co$ are denying him. Total footbullet on their part.

tl;dr: stop fretting.

The reason I seem to disappear on ethel street is because i use the side entrance to New Street station. In the beginning I didn't take this masking thing too seriously. Its not as if I was the only one who was there unmasked. I just thought I lived too far away from the scilons too be tracked. I also dont like wearing mask because i wear glasses and i find it uncomfortable, breathing out make them steam up. The thought that my face is probably on some scilon database now makes my skin crawl.
