Title: Theme

anonsrus - July 15, 2008 12:35 PM (GMT)
Enturbulation has yet to decide on a theme for the August 16th protest - Party Harder is one of the suggestions that has been picked up on and tossed around in IRC. Keep in mind that Party Hard was easily one of the best we've done.

So, basically - do we:

A) Go with Party Harder regardless.
or
B) Go with what Enturb chooses, when they choose it.

It's up to you. Vote above.

Poll closes in 7 days, on the 22nd July.

Falco - July 15, 2008 12:37 PM (GMT)
Party Harder FTW.
Bring back the good old days of Brumanon.

Arcania - July 15, 2008 12:39 PM (GMT)
Party Harder, it's bound to be more fun.

anonymitts - July 15, 2008 01:04 PM (GMT)
yeah, fuck Enturb - Party Hard II: Party Harder!

from http://www.rickross.com/reference/scientology/Scien30.html

Scientology's 1995 raids of Internet users' homes comprise one of the most atrocious chapters in the history of Scientology's censorship war on the Internet. A great deal of information surrounds the raids. Briefly:

*Early August: Scientology raided the home of former Scientologist Arnie Lerma for posting to the Internet a widely-available federal court document known as the Fishman Papers. The papers included excerpts of Scientology's "secret scripture." Scientology then sued Lerma, his service provider Digital Gateway Systems, and even the Washington Post for including 46 words from the Fishman Papers in an article on the incident.

*Late August: Again claiming copyright infringement, Scientology raided the home of Lawrence Wollersheim and Bob Penny, the then-directors of FACTNet, a nonprofit BBS (now a web site). With federal marshals standing by, Scientology seized computers, disks, files, and more. Naturally, Scientology then sued FACTNet.

Saryad - July 15, 2008 03:18 PM (GMT)
Depends what enturb want to do.

anonsrus - July 15, 2008 03:39 PM (GMT)
When the theme is in dispute, Enturb usually come through with a theme two weeks prior.

Also, their themes usually suck cocks.

I missed Party Hard to, but judging from the pics, it looked awesome.

Hopefully we can get our numbers back up. :D

Party Harder, didnt get to join Party Hard, but i know itll be awesome.

Party Harder ftw

ScudMuffin - July 15, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
We could aim at the front groups. Some sort of evil docter thingy with the CCHR fake claims, NarConOn fake claims and Criminon fake claims.

Also we can use hubbards smoking vs cancer claims as a reason for GENTLEMEN!

anonogoose - July 15, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
The 'Party Hard' demonstration wasn't overly distinct from the other protests; there was just a conga line, if I remember correctly, and a few other shennanigans that whilst being awesome (if a load of V-masks jigging along to Astley doesn't get attention, I don't know what will) weren't really that remarkable in comparison with the whole range of tomfoolery done at other dates.

The 'lulz' don't seem to be specific to the theme, so I wouldn't cash your chips in on that.

I think part of the 'awesome' of Clambake/Chanology is that we appear at the same time, in the same dress and with the same direction as the other cells across the world. If we start to deviate from Enturbulation, we lose that - and to be honest, I can't say that detaching from the Enturbulation forums has done us any good, what with the whole 'oldfag/newfag' cliques forming.

In short: why change a winning formula? Stay focused; keep anon unified.

Several reasons:

1) Marblecake. Planning all the themes and pushing them with sockpuppet accounts. How is that anything to do with Anonymous?

2) Since the rise of defined themes, our turnout has been down.

3) If turnout gets considerably lower we'll be a glorified miniraid.

4) Moralfaggotry drives so many people away. A party's what they want? A party they shall get.

Anonymous, last time I checked, despaired of 'protestfags' entirely.

QUOTE
2) Since the rise of defined themes, our turnout has been down.

Correlation does not equate to causation. There are any number of reasons for the turnout falling. Exams, lack of 'novelty' factor, fall in media coverage, etc; all of these could explain a falling turnout. There's no clear link to the theme.

QUOTE
3) Anon needs to take back Chanology - If turnout gets considerably lower we'll be a glorified miniraid.

Many of the same faces from the very first protest keep coming back. The less interested come and go; I think that'll always be the way. Also, yes, extremely low turnout is a problem - but last protest had a lower turnout, and was probably the most effective of them all, if you measure it by actually negatively affecting the Co$ rather than 'lulz'.

QUOTE
4) Moralfaggotry drives so many people away. A party's what they want? A party they shall get.

Moralfaggotry drives people away from the Co$, yes. And besides, the 'lulz' and the 'moralfaggotry' were originally synonymous, and are by no means mutually exclusive. Don't negate one for the other.

I liked Party Hard, but I like the idea of a unified, worldwife anon too much.

anonsrus - July 15, 2008 10:11 PM (GMT)
Simply put - this is a vote, something we've not had on a theme before, thanks to the marblecake fiasco, whichever wins, wins. STFU.

Arcania - July 15, 2008 10:13 PM (GMT)
The people have spoken, leave it alone. If you don't like it, don't go.

anonogoose - July 15, 2008 10:19 PM (GMT)
The theme has never affected me at protests, really, so I'm not trying to naysay anything.

Actually, having thought about it, it's probably best we try both ways. We've done it Enturb's way before, so deviating may prove beneficial. If it does, cool.

If it doesn't work, we go back to the collective theme the next month.

Win-win. That's win in itself.

: )

-_-

Swifty - July 15, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
thing is as we where desucing on irc, brumanon does not rely go into the theams, we dont rely dress up, we don't realy have deicated signes for the them's

we might as well do somthing that eveyone enjoyed to get people to come again, and to bring back somthing.

if this dont work we can go back to the global theam in sept and no harm is done

and how many people in the streets know what the global theam for anon is each month?

anonsrus - July 15, 2008 10:30 PM (GMT)
For those that don't know.

The marblecake fiasco was basically a few people planning what Anonymous would do globally and then backing it up with sockpuppets. The first four themes were not decided on by the hivemind, they were planned before February.

Also cocks.

ScudMuffin - July 16, 2008 06:07 AM (GMT)
Beings we don't stick with themes, why are we deciding on one?

They're just there as a guide for information to hand out. Last time was osa, this time...?

This time, same as Party Hard. That covered a wide range of topic IIRC, with different people being more knowledgeable on certain areas.

xoixoi - July 16, 2008 08:44 AM (GMT)
OK, I'll moderate my stance. Let's do what Enturb wants - keep Anon unified. But lets still party hard. I don't see any contradiction in doing both. We shouldn't take ourselves too seriously even though $cientology is deadly serious. The best way, IMO, to take down this organisation is to (1) be at the picket, (2) have fun being there and (3) seek Great Justice. If that means going along with Enturb + Party Hard then I'm up for it.

DaftHats - July 16, 2008 10:28 AM (GMT)
We can Party Hard while still making some referance to the overall Anon flavour of the month!

According to the overwhelming 'Enturb GTFO' vote, the two are mutually exclusive. *shrugs*

That's harsh on Goose.

I'm with him (in that I'm a bit of a moralfag as well) - it's all very well and good going with "lulzy" themes, but there does appear to be a bit of a clique forming - and that isn't what Anonymous is about.

Swifty - July 17, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
we will be holding a discussion on IRC on Sunday the 20th at 6pm, to talk about the topic so everyone can put forwarded there views.
