Title: Thoughts on the op
Description: Zen and that

Were we one with everything?
xoixoi - September 13, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
I am writing this as Suit Guy - xoixoi is still in London. I just wanted to say that I was on top form & so were many of you guys. I was only there for 3 hours but I worked the streets hard (call me a slut hehe) & did alot of chatting with the public. I think this was a win. Keep it up ppl - I promise more cake next time.
Anon76 - September 13, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
Yep you were definitely one of the stars of the day, full of energy and the public seemed to love you. Hopefully you stopped a few of them being suckered in by the cult.
Three cheers for my suit-wearing comrade.
I'd say today was a big win, despite the inconsistency of the police response.
Someone should really tell them that the good-cop/bad-cop routine may be good for interviewing suspects, but for policing protests is a big fail.
Buckethead - September 13, 2008 03:58 PM (GMT)
The police officer (S. Wheeler) who stopped me and the boat for wearing masks (outdoors) before we got to the protets and took our names and details was the biggest fail, mainly cos he's a susepect sci-fag, as there was no reason to stop us or get our details and a big issue vendor told us he saw us coming and planned to, for lack of a better word, ambush us.
A complaint will be made.
But it wasn't too bad, the artsfest people were a bit dodgy and the numbers lacked but overall it was okay :)
Anon76 - September 13, 2008 04:08 PM (GMT)
For next time I'd like to see more people, perhaps if we all redouble our efforts to recruit at least one new friend to join us we can start getting our numbers back up to the levels we had earlier in the year.
It was nice to see a few new faces there.
I would have liked to see a few more signs too.
But overall I'd say it was a win. I love it when the public come up to us and say that they agree with us, There was plenty of that today.
anon1812 - September 13, 2008 04:11 PM (GMT)
Agreed... there was much agreement from crowds.
Jacob - September 13, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
I got like 3 people who told me that we were doing the right thing, 5 more mumbled something along the lines of "about time somebody did something" and, if not for the one bigoted Catholic, everyone I talked to left with more information than when they arrived.
The story with that guy was with the flyers about how scientology won't admit its mistakes. He suddenly got really arsey about the word priest for some reason, then when I said that I was Christian (mostly to show that I don't give a flying fuck what the slyer said), he said that Protestants were full of gays and stuff, to which another anon got really offended (being that way inclined herself). He ran off before we could understand what he was angry about.
Also I handed a flyer to a sci-fag, who said it was all shit before scurrying to the offices. This alone won it for me. My only regret is the aforementioned, and that I felt like I slightly harassed an elderly woman (she said she didn't know too much, so she shouldn't really join the cause, and I felt that I was intimidating her slightly)
Can't wait for the next one.
Nixon - September 13, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
win: chants, caek, flyers, megaphones, music, lots of people, sun, suits
fail: artsfest security staff, police officer at the start, coming back from watching my friend dance and not being allowed back on the megaphone!
also fail, realising i may not be available for the next protets =/

Actually, I think the arts fest helped as much as it hindered People were attracted by the arts and then found our little segment.
But yeah, anal cops and artsfest workers = FAIL.

PC Wheeler causing trouble again eh? We have to get this guy on camera.
Jacob - September 13, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
Ha, someone on GFAQS just reminded me of another slightly hostile encounter.
One anon was trying to hand out flyers, some kids walked over to her, then suddenly this mom came out of nowhere, shouting that she didn't want anything because she was, and I quote, "Pagan agnostic." Lolwut?

Lmao I heard that one, and the zealous catholic guy who was determined to think we were against catholicism because one of the lines on a leaflet said "ask a priest about the crusades".
I love being completely blanked, but the oreos helped attract a lot of people despite nazi-like "event planners"

The overall person in charge was fine - they came down, it took about 30 seconds/a minute to clear everything up with her.

That was more the security they'd got than the organiser, but yeah.
ANonStick - September 13, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
I missed a lot of the other stuff going on. My special mentions are 323's flyer mountain, and watching Suit Guy and Goose deal with the public.
No pics so it didn't happen: 1812 and I shaking hands with the mayor.
Anonlass - September 14, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
unfourtunatly alot of people throrght we were with scientolagy because they cant read!
I think my '' if your happy an you know it take a leaflett!'' worked and my ' simon sais take a leaflet'
anonuk323 - September 14, 2008 12:17 PM (GMT)
September was win.
I think we handed out >2000 leaflets, I've only a few hundred left :) My mintlet/leafmint offer at the end didn't go down as well as I hoped :(
The police response seemed schizophrenic; Wheeler was his usual arrogant self, the two PCs who came over because of the Scilon BAWWing were cool, then that netco thing.
I dunno what to make of that netco thing. seriously, the scilons would of had that paper at the start of the day (either them or st hill) and they didn't bother to use it till really late in the day.
Either that or they were googling furiously.
The scilons must think they can still win doing the same old stuff.
anonymitts - September 14, 2008 12:58 PM (GMT)
Realistically, the NETCO thing doesn't do much. It stops us having music and chants. We can still give out loads of leaflets and stand vigil outside the church :)

Will the NETCO stop chants in the future? If so, LAME.
Falco - September 14, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)
NETCU, not NETCO. [/pedant]
We've been unable to find anything about it so far. Looks like we'll have to contact them directly and find out from them is there is anything about megaphones. No mention of it on their site, no ammendments to the Public Order Act we've noticed etc.
ScudMuffin - September 14, 2008 01:52 PM (GMT)
afaik they can't do anything about chants or announcements. Music they can stop but I'm not sure. Herm may know something about this, he seems pretty well versed on the subject.
willonomous - September 14, 2008 07:35 PM (GMT)
I thought it went really well.
Arts Fest was good though because you had people comingg from outside of Birmingham who might have never heard of Scientology or Anonymous, but know now :D
woop!
The NETCO stuff was really lame though.
Was more fun than August! :D
so definitely pure WIN :D
Need better Topic though. Ninja storm was fail except for Stick!
GO STICK!
