Course it'll be worth going - the more the merrier, as well.
If current active members are anything to go by, and if they can all make it, I'd estimate about 20-25 of us. I'll do the list nearer the time.

8th should be fine for me. I would have preferred next week, but eh, the closer to the 5th the better.

Date is based off the global consensus over on WhyWeProtest - it was a close vote in the end, but the 8th came out on top.

We've done mini-raids with about 5 of us before which were effective - it's not so much how many of us are there, it's how effective those that are there are at getting the message across.
As to the age, there're a range of ages. Again, is the age of someone there really important, if they know what they are doing? You could have a 40 something turn up to protest without a clue what to do, and a 16 year old turn up who is one of the more organised and effective there. Age isn't everything.
Edit: Also, masks. Who can tell?
Anon76 - October 23, 2008 08:54 PM (GMT)
Ages range from about 16ish to late 40's/50ish.
I'm in the 25-35 age range.

Age is just a number.
And I should be attending, the dates have fallen to my advantage. :3
Galanon - October 24, 2008 04:51 PM (GMT)
Galanon & Annanon on board for the 8th, possibly the 15th too if there's a second protest (I herd London are doing it then due to Lord Mayor's Show).
For reference, I'm [redacted], she's [redacted].
Personal info, not a good idea.

Swifty are on boat :D
I would whole heartedly suggest warm clothing, even a tshirt under your shirt will help; it gets bloody cold on New Street.

anonymitts - November 6, 2008 03:00 PM (GMT)
9k has the megaphone methinks. And maybe Hermes will get himself to Ethel Street with ULTRAMEGAphone!
Also BRUCE?
lordanon - November 6, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
this aint gonna turn into some gay fag thing with loads of kids tyring to act cool in masks is it, i mean speachs from films, megaphones? come on, folk gonna think were gayer than sci fags
folk arent gonna care if we look like a bunch of drippy students unhappy with something. We should make such a statement that people will want to know whats going on !!
why dont we just from ranks all in masks and stand their silent, just holding banners, itll piss the scifags off

The megaphone's are so the scis inside the building can hear us, and also to help us get our voices heard above the general noise of the city center.

That's exactly what we do. We protest in unusual ways, it attects attention, gets people interested.
| QUOTE |

A) It won't piss them off, it'll mean they can ignore us - this amazing invention called curtains.
B ) If they choose to, they'll still be able to go out and offer stress tests - if we're just stood there silently, we'll be doing nothing to stop that.
C) Where's the fun in that?
We've been doing this 9 months, we know what works, what doesn't.
Lurk more.
lordanon - November 6, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
thing is though, ive been to see plenty of demo's and folk just get pissed at them demonstrators more, totally get you re stress tests etc but we just cant be gay bout it

Get pissed at the demonstrators?
I think in the 9 months I've been going, I can recall all of 4 people who've been annoyed with us, and one of those was due to "seeing Scientology and seeing red". The fact we make them fun means it's a lot harder for people to find a reason to be angry.
over9000 - November 6, 2008 07:07 PM (GMT)
Lordanon, the majority of us have a good 8 months (7 for myself) of protesting under our belts, we know what we're doing. Fair enough if you want to make suggestions for improvement, but really, we're not a group of "drippy students" standing round in masks having a laugh. We're a united team of individuals brought together by the same cause. We know that Scientology is serious fucking business but we can have a laugh doing it at the same time. I know that I, personally would less likely come to the raids if we sat there in silence like hunger strikers. We protest by partying. And who doesn't love a party? ;)
willonomous - November 6, 2008 07:29 PM (GMT)
PARTY!
Sod Hunger strike!
CAEK FTW!
lordanon - November 6, 2008 08:05 PM (GMT)

Many of us tend to mask up nearby, shortly before they walk to the protest.
And many of us are able to tell who's who by now.
willonomous - November 6, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Mask on wherever, though bringing attention to yourself whilst putting on not great idea.
Dont expect this to be much like normal demos.
We're one big dysfunctional family.
