Title: Cake issues

BritFagATDI - February 28, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
So far I believe the stance is:

1.) We don't have to say "May contain nuts"..etc but it's best to.
2.) The best thing would to not offer cake, but give it if asked.
3.) No Knifes, at all. Bring Cake pre-cut.
4.) ????
5.) Profit!!

Lulz0matic - February 28, 2008 11:19 PM (GMT)
1) Buy at Greggs.
2) 'Steal' Sporks from Spud-U-Like opposite.
3) Paper plates/bowls from Poundland.
4) ???
5) Delicious Cake... I mean Profit.

anon1812 - February 28, 2008 11:19 PM (GMT)
I may Be able to supply some cake. I take no responsibility for its quality and how popular it is/isn't.

Lulz0matic - February 28, 2008 11:20 PM (GMT)
Is it can be chocolate?

Hermes - February 28, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
How about Jamaican rum cake.... wouldn't be a PR disaster at all

anon1812 - February 28, 2008 11:34 PM (GMT)
I do have recipes for chocolate cakes... but ... I'm not as practised at them, so there is a higher likelihood of Fail.

I can think of at least think of some people (those that live with me) who believe my cake is FTW. However this is not a guarantee that my cake will not be complete shite.

Ash - February 29, 2008 12:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah, cake is for us, really, not the public, unless they expressly ask for some. Warnings about nuts, etc should be there anyway, just in case. I think buying some from somewhere just for the public (rather than making them) would be our best bet, since that way we don't have to worry about being accused of food poisoning!

Bromfag0001 - February 29, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
If you are making it, you need a Health and safety certificate to hand them out. :(

Luckily, through work, i believe i have one :)
unluckily on the other hand, i need a health and safety approved kitchen, which i don't have :(

AnonP1ZZ4 - February 29, 2008 07:15 PM (GMT)
Hai guys. Regarding the warnings, allergy advice, disclaimers, etc... I made this. I've been plastering this everywhere, you might have seen it.

BATTENBURG!

:D My favourite.

Hermes - February 29, 2008 09:48 PM (GMT)
Can't we at least consider the idea of having Jamaican rum cake?
:D

TheDudeWhoWearsTheNirvanaShirt - February 29, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
Doesn't that contain alcohol?..

Hermes - February 29, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah so what?...

Falco - February 29, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
Should be available for public in general, there's bound to be people kicking up a fuss if we're seen giving alcohol (even if it is a miniscule amount) to any children etc.

Hermes - February 29, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
I'm just pulling yer legs..... But Jamaican ginger cake made by Mc'vitties would be great

Uhoh... I foresee Epic Fail.

Oes Noes.

Wild Bill - February 29, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Been mentioned and thought of
Moar people are going to have half-masks so that talking to the public/eating/drinking can be done without hassle

Hang on... my dedicated team of engineers and physicists are working on it as we speak....

Or... Very very thin cake... which can fit through mask holes.

... Epic win, yet very hard.

Though the thin cake thesis is widely considered to be a good challenge to the big shield theory

Buy liquidiser ---> insert cake ---> liquidise cake ---> drink through straw?

Ahh, the The Liquid Mastication Model

TheDudeWhoWearsTheNirvanaShirt - March 1, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)
Liquidized Cake... That... would be quite awesome.

The drama department at my school is allowing me to rob off with a lot of masks, recently they did The Phantom of the Opera... So I have some crummy plastic half masks to bring as well as the funky emotion ones I'll be wearing.

TheGuyFromTheCrowd - March 1, 2008 10:09 AM (GMT)
Yes wpic win indeed, I too have hold of stupid emotion masks and the Phantom Of The Opera half masks, both of them being epic win, but choosing which mask to use or which emotion makes my brain hurt! XD And also, I propose JAFFA CAKES, though some people say they are a buicuit, they are legally a cake.

Falco - March 1, 2008 10:37 AM (GMT)
I'm going to try and adapt my mask once it gets here, to see if there's anyway around this problem. If not, are there any stores in the local area that sell half masks that any of you know of?

AnonP1ZZ4 - March 1, 2008 12:17 PM (GMT)
Erm... we could also take maybe a gigantic (at least to waist length) white table-cloth/cloak, we can cut some eye-holes and a mouth-hole into it, and anybody eating can wear it???

ooh-err... A bit KKK-like innit?

BritFagATDI - March 1, 2008 01:03 PM (GMT)
Get a porta potty, put a sign on it saying "Cake eating facilities".

[/jokes]

TheDudeWhoWearsTheNirvanaShirt - March 1, 2008 03:52 PM (GMT)
Or a Tent.

I'm bringing a few masks with me, so If anyone needs one I should have a few extra.

Ah. Problem. We could... buy lots of ghost costumes and modify them?

Also, a tent could work. But will anyone bring one up?

Hermes - March 1, 2008 07:17 PM (GMT)
Tents may block the flow of pedestrians so might not be a good idea

If you need a tent or some kind of KKK-style body-covering in order to successfully eat cake then you've got to seriously worry about your table manners! ;)

Malf masks are sold in pretty much any decent fancy dress or party shop, or you could buy a full face mask and cut the mouth/chin part off. Just be careful to round off any sharp edges.

Anon76 - March 2, 2008 11:33 AM (GMT)
I've been testing out my V for vendetta mask and it's easy enough to pull the bottom of the mask forward away from your mouth enough to take a bite of cake without revealing your face.

This also works for smoking if you're careful. Just blow the smoke downwards so it doesn't get in your eyes.

I don't know, it might look cool having guy fawkes with smoke coming out of his eyes :)

anyway, I think I should have gone for a halfmask this time round, but I got ahead of myself and bought a V mask, so it'd good to hear you can eat and such easily enough.

With any luck then, I'll be able to manage that with mine.
