DeceptionOfTheState - May 6, 2009 09:06 PM (GMT)
I'm there. Though I want your opinions on something, I am seriously considering coming unmasked. My reason being this; I have nothing to hide, and personally I am not afraid of the Church following me or trying to dig stuff up on me. I just want to know, would people have an issue with me protesting unmasked or recommend against it for any reason? Its just that I know the Church can dig and dig but they will not find anything against me, I am not afraid of them creating false allegations since my reputation far precedes that of the Co£.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

over9000 - May 6, 2009 09:12 PM (GMT)
Enjoy your fair game.

Virion - May 6, 2009 09:12 PM (GMT)
The Church of £ngland doesnt dig much.

Falco - May 6, 2009 09:15 PM (GMT)
There're a few members of us that've turned up unmasked before, or removed masks over the course of the day. So far, we've heard of no repercussions against them, or any signs of them being Fair Gamed at all. As far as we can tell, our local CoS is rather inept.

However, that's not to say they won't manage to up their game at any point with finding out who you are, harassment, counter protests etc, although in my opinion, these are likely to happen where the CoS has more reach and power than locally.

At the end of the day, the decision will be yours.

Edit: There's also another matter for you to consider, of the masks making us more recognisable to the public as to who we are/why we're there - after so many months, they've pretty much become a recognised symbol for us.

anonuk323 - May 6, 2009 09:17 PM (GMT)
It really is up to you; our local scilons are about as offensive as single cream and haven't really bothered with the bullbaiting, fair gaming, "Attack, never defend" or confronting stuff they are taught; they seem more interested in telling the police they have small children in the Org who maybe scared by a man sized parrot, a jester, the YMCA and cake. Or just whinging at the police that we keep playing Rick Astley.

A number of us protest without masks, and more protest with masks. Each to their own.

Advice: Try and conceal identity to a point.

Chances of something actually happening from the sci's on protest against one person are low, though I wouldn't put it past them to try and follow you afterward, though if they recognise you off protest you WILL get followed. You can also be guaranteed that they'll try and take your picture.

DeceptionOfTheState - May 6, 2009 09:21 PM (GMT)
Cheers guys, I'll see you all on Saturday.

Galanon - May 6, 2009 09:22 PM (GMT)
It's your choice man, but you WILL most likely get photographed. Personally I wear the GF mask mostly cos it's iconic, and I've mastered doing a dead-eyed stare through it that people seem to find wonderfully unsettling. I'm sure by now they know what I look like, and sometimes I just wear sunglasses.

You won't be the only person unmasked there, but I think some find of mask, wig or bandana makes you look like a raider rather than just a regular guy.

EDIT: One of us (my fiancée, no less) has been recognised and followed by them. Don't think she was in much real danger, but she found the experience terrifying, and they did try telling a policeman that she was a criminal. Unmask at your own risk.

Virion - May 6, 2009 09:24 PM (GMT)
Solution: Dress spazzy and dazley, then your always RAID ready!

anonstick - May 6, 2009 09:42 PM (GMT)
:ninja:

willonomous - May 6, 2009 10:02 PM (GMT)
if you dont want to wear a v-mask becuase you find them uncomftorable, I can always lend you a choice of comftorable masks, or you can go buy somethign different. Remember, it doesnt have to be V!

I have Sticks half mask from last raid, and i have to admit it is one of the most comftorable masks ive ever worn. I definitely reccomend half masks if your worried about comfort!

DeceptionOfTheState - May 6, 2009 10:06 PM (GMT)
Nah, its ok. I kinda want to make the point that I'm not afraid of the Co£, I understand why people want to wear masks but I just don't feel that its right for me, but thankyou for the offer. I should have a little suprise as well for you guys, since its my first raid...

Virion - May 6, 2009 11:17 PM (GMT)
Brumanon frowns upon suprises, they make us edgy. Like a paranoid child who ate all the coffee beans.

anonymitts - May 7, 2009 05:11 AM (GMT)
Masks? What are these masks you speak of?

Speak for yourself.

DeceptionOfTheState - May 7, 2009 11:38 AM (GMT)
Virion, there is a difference between a suprise and murder. It probably won't be the latter... ;)

Virion - May 7, 2009 02:26 PM (GMT)
Heh, depends on the point of view...
Would you expect murder in the middel of New St?
Would it be suprising?
I think it would.
And Bawwwwww, i think the pirate flag may need to be got somewere on the day as this company hasnt sent my fuckin order. Also means im ordering a pirate palg i wont have a use for... Hmmm...

DeceptionOfTheState - May 7, 2009 08:14 PM (GMT)
Murder in the middle of New St? Perhaps causal violence though...
Well, I guess I'll see you all at around ten.

Virion - May 7, 2009 08:19 PM (GMT)
Ealriest ppl turn upt just before 11 afaik, youll be all alone for a bit.

Falco - May 7, 2009 11:21 PM (GMT)
If you're there at 10, you'll likely be waiting around a while. I generally have a wander past beforehand, people usually start turning up around 11. Maybe 10 minutes or so before, but not a great deal of time.
