I'm sorry for the massive downgrade in forum graphics, it's the best I could do in an hour or so :)

The TL;DR first: Rus owns the pretty pictures, he BAWWWed copyright law, new crappy graphics.

Now the long version, and I apologise if I rant here, cuz I'm pissed off.
Rus did all the graphics for the forums a while back, and was the one hosting them; some of them disappeared this morning, and thinking they'd been deleted I backed them up to the brumanon server.

I get this a few hours later;

Not quite. It went down, we were unable to reply to anything, so we restored the "image" for replying back to basic text. This then looked odd, so we backed up the other images, and reverted the similar ones to text too, until we could find out what was going on with it. I'm not sure what happened during the day, first I heard of any copying and rehosting was a forwarded message.

When there's no option to reply, effectively disabling the forums, it's not like we have time to message him - especially as he hasn't been seen around for a few days, so we'd have no idea how long we could've been waiting for a reply.

you guys have his number, you could have texted him. you could have just waited, it wasn't a major issue. not being able to contact him to find out? sod off, you had the ability to do that from the word go. replacing the images? what about using default templates, no harm in that. so the forum looks a little generic for a while, so what?

Public face is pretty high on the agenda, iirc.

Not being able to reply on here is a fairly major issue - that is the whole point of these forums, afterall.

And so far as I'm concerned, we restored the images to text, backed up the images that we had left here for if/when rus came on to be able to talk to.

Log says otherwise. TBH I'm pretty suprised with the lot of you. So he's not in IRC, he's not able to post on the forum at 0.2 seconds notice, so you assume it's a deliberate attempt to be an arsehole. It was one silly image ffs! You could have dropped him a text. You could have just waited. Instead you take a route clearly marked arsehole. Nice one.

Copies for backup purposes. I made a copy of the banner months back for the same reason, when imageshack cleared it - rus re-uploaded, we agreed to keep a copy in case of a repetiation in future.
Remaining images before they go = 'mitts was reverting to text, copying in case they were needed again. Context is helpful.

And again, that was 'mitts's point of view. Not mine. Logs do not say otherwise to that.

One silly image that disabled the forum. It's no use if there's nothing to reply with, this doesn't give us time to mess about waiting to see what's going on, if it's an error or deliberate etc. And there's a difference between 0.2 seconds notice, and not being seen for several days. I don't recall seeing him online myself for the best part of a week.

Considering you're one of three people who could of crippled Rus' account I find that hard to believe Falco. Beings the c&d was sent on the back of the account crippling, and concencus would have been reached to cripple the account the reason you can't use the images is down to yourselves. POV or not, you were party to crippling that account.

As for disabling the forum

What's the problem with that? You're using them now aren't you?

The backing up of the images is not the problem. The use of the images is not the problem. Not bothering to contact someone then crippling the only method of trouble shooting the problem they have because they weren't at a computer to reply on a forum or IRC within two minutes rather than making a quick phone call or sending a text message, acting like a twat over something so unbelivably trivial that could have been patched briefly and repaired with ease is.

That is why the C&D was sent.

Okay, firstly, '323 has mentioned he changed the group rus's account was in. As you'll see from IRC, I mentioned that I was changing the permissions of that group to allow for posting (if only for amusement).

Secondly. the c&d was sent BEFORE the account information was changed.

In addition to this, there was no consensus on this - the information was changed, we were made aware of it after the event.

As I mentioned, the "crippling" happened after the C&D. We did patch the problem, by using backups (which, by the way, legally belong to Brumanon, not an individual), and instead of anything about restoring the image, the first we heard of the problem was a C&D.

Oh, and Scud? A request. Please refrain from deleting posts, we're doing this all publicly for a reason. If you object, I'd ask you to move the post into the Wall of Shame - transparency issues.

The forum icons look as they are now due to pointless BAWing about them being used.

Edit: It was pointed out on IRC that the above screeenshots are cropped. There is a simple reason for this. The first screenshot in cropped as to the nature of PMs - there are other messages in my inbox that should be kept private, and as such, I only selected the relevant ones to show. The second is cropped as the Admin logs also display the IP address of the person performing each action, and of course, that's not something that we would want displayed on the boards

Ooh, be a dear and calm down. Rus hasn't been seen on IRC for well over a week - more like two. In the past he's been known to do some incredibly stupid things (I have irc logs between him and I that prove it - but I don't go and display them on the forum in a rage moment - and believe me one of the logs could have the lad in serious trouble, but I know he was being a bravado idiot. However, Scud, you are forgiven for posting non public face IRC logs involving my thoughts in the matter as I can understand your anger and you've probably calmed down by now.)

The "Disappearence" of the reply button basically made this forum completely useless. We did a quick fix. This will be sorted soonly. And, really, compared to some of the other anon boards, even with the quick fix graphics we still look the best.

Yes, we removed Rus' admin rights, but a simple PM by him to myself or any of the other admins would have had it sorted out.

We've had people leaving in rage before and coming back (Rus being one of them) and we've always welcomed them back and let bygones be bygones. So, if Rus comes back to IRC and the protests and behaves in a not so annoying way then he'll be taken off the Retards group list.
